I caught the subway down to the Bowling Green and walked straight onto the Staten Island Ferry. These huge orange monsters continually lumber across the bay and provide fantastic views of Manhattan, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The round trip is about 30 minutes. It’s a free ride so if you have time, take the trip at night too to see the lights of the city.
