Last time I visited Singapore I explored the Marina Sands area and saw some amazing steel tree structures in the distance. I vowed to seek those trees out when I was next in town.

The structures are part of Gardens By The Bay. I timed my visit perfectly as a garden festival was on the week that I visited.

There is a lot to see if you simply want to wander around the various parts of the garden. If you are prepared to open your wallet you can visit one or both of two conservatories; Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

There is something about an orchid that always catches my eye…

There are different cafes scattered throughout the Gardens. I choose to visit The Veranda; a bistro style place whose décor is based on the old style standalone houses with shutters.

As part of the festival there was a competition for the best garden design…

There was also an area that showcased design of small balconies…

Last but not least a bonsai display…

Travel Tips:

  1. Buy tickets on line if you can as the queues for tickets are long.
  2. If you travel by Tiger Air keep your boarding pass as it gets you an $8 discount when you visit both conservatories.
