I do love a good café. There is something about sitting in a relaxing environment with good food that makes me very very happy.

Baan Suan Him Doi Resort

I stayed at this resort for a month while volunteering at Care for Dogs. They have a great little restaurant with a wide variety of Thai and Western food.

9 Moo 9

Now this place is something else! The café is part of the owner’s property. There are large comfy cushions to sit on as you overlook the pretty garden.

The food is Western and it is delicious. This café is more expensive than most place (mains around 200 to 250 baht) but it’s well worth it.

I can recommend the homemade pork and leek sausages as well as the carrot and walnut cake.

FABB Café

If you love coffee then this is the place for you! You select your beans from a tasting menu, then you select the type of coffee you want then you sit back and wait for coffee heaven.

You do pay a steep price for this kind of luxury but it’s well worth it. They were able to make me a flat white, which I’ve not seen at any other café in Chiang Mai and I’ve been to a fair few!

The food is also of the same high standard. The apple pie with custard was as good as any I’ve tasted before.

Now this café isn’t strictly in Hang Dong but half way between there and Chiang Mai on Canal Road.
