Recently I had the good fortune to volunteer at Care for Dogs. This is a dog shelter in Chiang Mai, Thailand that looks after between 160 to 200 dogs and puppies at any one time.

It was an incredible experience. I had hands on time with dogs and I was able to practise my photography. This experience, together with the positive feedback I received on my photos from supporters on Care for Dogs Facebook page and fellow volunteers, got me thinking “Wouldn’t it be great to combine my love for the dogs and my passion for photography in some way”.

An idea was born… I’ve been working away at my idea since August and I’m VERY excited to announce that I’ve produced the first ever Care for Dogs Foundation calendar!

Because the organisation is mainly run on donations I wanted to use the calendar to raise money for the shelter as well as see what it took for me to earn income from my photos. I decided to donate 50% of the profits from sales of the calendar to Care for Dogs. This percentage represents how much respect I have for the organisation and the hard-working staff and volunteers.

Calendar Girls and Boys

I’d taken hundreds of photos in my 3.5 months volunteering so choosing the best 12 photos took some time. When they are this good looking how do you choose??

2015 Cover Star

Choosing who would be the calendar cover star was a tough decision. There were so many beautiful dogs to choose from. In the end it was his gorgeous eyes that did it for me. I just wanted to reach into the photo and give him a hug and let him know that he is loved.

Introducing Monty; he’s also Mr May so you get to see those beautiful soft eyes for an entire month). You can see him at the top of this post.

I’ve set up online stores with CafePress. This means that you order directly from CafePress who will print and post your calendar to you. Stores have been set up in different countries so that the public holidays are correct for each country. Calendars can be ordered for the following countries:
