Cheering at the New York Marathon

 It was a cool morning as I had a coffee in a local café on the east side, waiting for the marathon runners to hit the 17 mile mark. At first I thought that not many people would be there supporting the runners but it turned out that they were all on their way and by the time I left the supporters were 5 deep.

There was a fantastic energy as we all waited for the first groups of runners

to come through, a local dj had the music pumping and there were lots of signs cheering on the runners.

 

 

 

 

When the first women came over the hill I couldn’t believe how fast they were going! It’s one thing to watch the runners on TV, it’s another thing entirely to see them whiz by in person.

 

It wasn’t long before the first group of men came by and then runners were coming thick and fast.

It was very tough to tear myself away but my hands were sore from clapping for the runners and there were other sights to see on my last day in NYC.
