My coaching and business books to read!

My current reading list

Books open my eyes. They take me in directions I had not seen before and open up worlds of possibility.

I’m currently reading a gem by Barbara Sher called “I could do anything If Only I Knew What It Was”. This book is designed to help you identify and achieve your dreams – whatever they may be.

Now I only have a certain level of tolerance for self-help books as I am a practically minded soul, so I picked this book up with a certain amount of skepticism. I was pleasantly surprised as it contains some great practical advice which I found myself nodding along to in agreement.

The aspect of the book that most appealed is that Barbara has included exercises within each chapter so that you can apply what you have read to your own personal situation. My favourite exercise was one that required me to make a Very Small Commitment (or VSC as it got noted in my diary) to myself and stick with it for 30 days. I liked this exercise as I know I can shy away from making commitments. I feel that as there are so many things I want to do I don’t like to fully commit to much because that would mean missing out on the other things that I enjoy. The result is that I don’t develop mastery in the things I enjoy.

The exercise is to spend half an hour each day doing something until you get good at it. It doesn’t matter what you choose; just that you do it every day and try to get it right.

 I choose photography.
