I was enticed to Luang Prabang by the stories of French cuisine, colonial villas, Buddhist temples and stunning river views.

I made the sunset trek up Phu Si one evening. The views were lovely and there is the opportunity to talk to novice monks too.

The town isn’t very big so it’s a great place to wander around and take in the sights. The villas and temples were very easy on the eye.

I drunk more coffee and ate more pain au chocolats that was probably good for me as they were so delicious. I figure you never know when you are going to come across such deliciousness again so eat it while you can.

Luang Prabang by night is beautiful. The restaurants by the river all have lanterns and the market is all a twinkle with lights. The market is well worth a look. The sellers aren’t pushy at all.

I can also highly recommend getting a massage at Hibiscus Massage. I was transported to a quiet and zen like place as I had an hour long foot massage.

Travel Tips:

  1. Head to Kuang Si Falls, Laos. As well as gorgeous waterfalls there are bears!
  2. Head to Utopia. It’s a café by day and a bar by night. Some of the best views of the river in town.
  3. Most temples will charge a small fee to enter. Don’t leave home without your wallet.
